Olive Ostrovsky

Designing Olive’s costume was a tender act of storytelling for Sara. Olive, ever resourceful, sewed a pocket on her dress to keep her beloved dictionary close—complete with matching friendship necklaces. Wrapped in elements of purple, she carries not her parents’ love, but a quiet hope to belong.

William Barfee

Designing Barfee was a true joy for Sara. Naturally, being a science enthusiast, his bowtie features the periodic table of elements. His magic foot shines with green rhinestones, and to top it all off, an olive green sweater vest ties everything together perfectly.

Mitch Mahoney

Under the leather and slicked back hair is a true sweetheart finding his true passion. Mitch Mahoney definitely seemed like an 80’s rock band lover, and thanks to Sara’s father who constantly played just that, Mitch gets to wear a Mötley Crüe shirt.

Marcy Park

For Sara, Marcy’s design hit home, particularly the echoes of Catholic school uniforms. The bold red elements symbolize both discipline and conformity, but do they truly reflect what Marcy desires for herself? Watch the show and see how Marcy blossoms into her true self.

Olive’s Dad

Olive’s dad is always busy at work, so naturally he will wear his uniform to the Bee. His mechanics jacket and purple bandana are two important elements to this character. His work and his love for his family, which is more important to him?

Dan Dad

Dan dad is the more level headed of Shwartzy’s fathers, so when getting ready for the bee he decides to wear his classic jean jacket to even out the brightness of his partner and daughter.

Jesus

Most adaptations of Jesus are of a caring, insightful, and sacrificing man. However in this musical he has better things to do than watch over a spelling bee. His carefree attitude needed birkenstocks, a not so natural looking beard, and of course his tunic and sash.
